SHS Juniors and Senior Participate in the Powder Puff Game

SHS Volleyball Falls In Straight Sets

On Thursday, the Lady Blue Devil volleyball team faced off against Savannah Country Day. They put up an amazing fight in each set, but fell in straight sets by the score of 23-25, 15-25, and 16-25 in the last home game of the regular season. The Devils Fall Short

The Statesboro Blue Devils took on Tattnall County at home Friday, September 30th.  After an early fumble by SHS, the Warriors ran it in for a touchdown and got the PAT. The Devils fought hard to to get a touchdown and PAT to tie the game at 7-7 with 4:21 to go in the first half!

SHS Volleyball Sweeps Region Matches

SHS Volleyball swept two region matches Tuesday, defeating Ware County and New Hampstead.  The Blue Devils first avenged an early season loss to Ware County, defeating them 25-16, 25-16.  After Senior Night ceremonies, the Devils defeated New Hampstead 25-8, 25-18.  The wins secure the Blue Devils the second seed heading into next Saturday’s region tournament.

Cross Country Competes at Wayne County

The SHS Cross Country team competed in Wayne County, the site of this year’s Region Race, on Thursday in a multi-team meet.  The boys team placed 6th overall and were led by top finishers Noah Caplinger (2), Josh Willoughby (11), Mick Cionitti (41), Zijie Wilson (52), and Donovan Roberts (65).  The girls team placed 1st overall

SHS Softball Defeats Ware County

SHS Softball avenged an early-season loss to Ware County yesterday, winning 3-1.  After allowing a first inning run, the Lady Devils answered with three runs in the third inning off of doubles by Morgan Thompson and McKenzi Wilkerson.  With a solid defense behind her, BA Rogers completed the last six innings without allowing another run.

Softball Team Wins in Extra Innings

Statesboro High’s softball team picked up a 6-5 win in extra innings Monday over non-region opponent Dublin.  Dublin scored a run in the top of the seventh inning to take a 3-2 lead, but the Blue Devils responded with a run from Adrenne Newell in the bottom of the inning to send it to extras.

Blue Devils Football Falls to Effingham

On Friday the Blue Devil football team held a home non-conference game against the Rebels of Effingham County. In the 1st quarter, the Blue Devils’ Isa Mobley blocked a kick.  Senior #3 Malik Prowell capitalized and scored the first touchdown with 50.2 second left in the first quarter.
