Blue Devils News · Lady Devils Tennis Wraps up Region Play with Another Win

The Statesboro Blue Devils traveled to Richmond Hill for the last region match of the year with the number one seed for the Region playoffs up for grabs.  Kate Laircey was hitting her shots as she won 6-1,6-1 to put the Lady Devils up 1-0.  Jolee Jordan and Mincey Akins played a great first set and jung on in the second to get the 6-1, 6-4 win at second doubles to put the Devils up 2-0 and needing one more win.  Nicole Crews, our lone senior, came through in the clutch as she won 6-2,6-4 at third singles to clinch the match.  Julia Basquin finished just behind her as she played well in winning 6-2,6-2 to give the ladies a 4-1 victory.  Angel Watkins also got a win in a singles exhibition match.  The Lady Devils finished the Region schedule with a perfect 6-0 record and improve to 12-2 on the season.  The Devils wrap up the regular season with a home match on Thursday against Dublin.
