Wednesday night (Feb. 8) the Blue Devils took to the baseball diamond in a pre-season scrimmage against the ECI Bulldogs. The Blue Devils used seven different pitchers in their scrimmage with ECI. They combined to limit the Bulldogs to just 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 9 with 5 walks. “We threw a lot of first pitch strikes, but we need to continue to stay aggressive after getting ahead in the count”, head Coach Jim Simmons. Statesboro scored 10 runs on 9 hits with two doubles and a home run. Assistant coach, Russ Winter said “I was pleased with our percentage of quality at-bats”. The night ended with an SHS victory over the Bulldogs with a score of 10-1. The Devils will travel to Jeff Davis High School for their season opener February 15th. The team’s first home game will be February 18th against cross-county rival Southeast Bulloch. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on the 18th! Hope to see you in the stands!
