Coach Steve Pennington submitted his resignation as Statesboro High School Football Coach to SHS Principal Dr. Ken LeCain Thursday afternoon. “We would like to thank Coach Pennington for the time he spent at SHS, especially the past 13 years as head coach. His leadership positively affected our community, our school, our football team, and countless young men. We wish him the best in the future.”
Under Coach Pennington’s leadership, SHS amassed a 105-49 record. During his 13 years as head coach, the Blue Devils won four region championships and appeared in the state playoffs 10 times, including a State Championship in 2005.
A search for new football coach at Statesboro High School will begin immediately.
