ghsa_wrestling_200w_transStateboro High School’s Wrestling team recently finished 2nd in the area, beating South Effingham in the semi-finals and then losing to Ware County in the Area Championship match. This qualified the team for the Team Dual State Championships in Macon from 1/12 to 1/14/17. At the State Tournament, SHS lost to Union Grove (who finished 3rd place overall in 5AAAAA) and followed up by beating Decatur High School to advance to the round of 12 teams.  SHS then lost to Clarke Central High School (finished 4th overall 5AAAAA).
The Devils have one more event this weekend at Islands High School to prepare for our individual Area tournament, which will be at New Hampstead High School on Saturday, 1/28. Our wrestlers will look to advance from there to the Sectional Tournament and then on to the State Tournament.
