Lady Devils Volleyball Defend Devil’s Den Against Wade Hampton

By: Samariah Smith

On Thursday, September 14th in the Statesboro High Varsity Gym, the Statesboro High School Varsity Volleyball team dominated their opponent from Wade Hampton.  The Devils won all three sets to take a 3-0 win.

There were some moments of the game that had many spectators on the edge of their seats, eager for the next play. In the third set, head coach Bob Massee replaced several of his starters with four new players. That’s when the intensity levels rose and the game became more exciting.

“I feel that the girls played a good game with high intensity levels that had everyone on the edge of their seats with excitement,” stated team manager Tatyanna Carter.

Top performers for the night were Jordan Palmer and Destiny Hartwell, both leading the team with the most digs. Hannah Helm lead the team with the most kills. With the team’s region record of 4-1 and overall record of 10-8, the Lady Devils are on track for a successful season.

Come on out and catch the Devils back in action as they travel to Greenbrier on Tuesday, September 19th.  The Devils return home Thursday, September 21st against West Laurens.
